Welcome to PD1RES , an Amateur Radio enthusiast from Almere, The Netherlands.

Ronald (PD1RES)

After fiddling around on the “3-meter band” as a teenager in the '80s, decades later, the radio bug got me once more, and I decided to go for the official exam. As a result, as of “November 10, 2024”, I can call myself a registered (and legal) radio amateur, enjoying a Yeasu FT-710 combined with a HighEndFed multiband (4 band) antenna in an "Inverted L" configuration.

It took a while, but hey... better late then never! 🙂

Behold the fascination! Listening to a Philips tube radio together with my little sister. (Also note the classic Dutch reading folder! “Leesmap” in Dutch.)

My current (somewhat messy) shack. Centrally located is my Yeasy FT-710. The Bass guitar is another hobby of mine, hence the oversized speakers.
First page of my always cherished logbook as a 3-meter pirate ("Quartz" from Zoeterwoude) back in the 80’s.
Look what I found… Over the years (almost 4 decades), I held on to this “piece of junk”. Amateurism at its best! Admire my “craftsmanship” in the 80’s; my version of the HF65 JostyKit. Doesn't it hurts the eyes? (But it was fun! 😊
Check out March 25th, four and a half hours of endless chatting with Pieter from Zoetermeer!
